Lofoten, Norway… ______________________________________ WE'RE ENGAGED! What a better way to propose than in the heart of the Arctic Circle under the Northern Lights. It's taken a few years to plan but I always had this moment in mind & it seemed fitting as we are both landscape photographers who share a passion for photographing the aurora. Originally I was going to propose in Iceland last year but unfortunately Karlie decided to discard my secretly stashed ring (yes, that actually happened 😂 lol, we were trying to cut weight on a connecting flight from the Faroe Islands). Fortunately though my plan worked & tonight the aurora was firing in one of the most incredible displays of colour we have ever seen. I tricked Karlie into believing we were shooting a selfie & used a torch to light us up for the image. Much to her shock, it wasn't any normal selfie, and much to my shock, she said yes! 😝 This is a single image that was taken during the proposal. And now we may not have any of our own images up hanging on our walls at home...we may however, make an exception for this one. 💍 Dale & Karlie
Highlands, Iceland… _________________________________________________________ This was the greatest display of the Northern Lights we have ever seen! We had front row seats to the most amazing show mother nature provides this planet & stood here for over in an hour in pure awe. We absolutely love our job & cant believe we get to share our passion not only with you guys, but with each other. Big thanks to @CampingIceland for making this all possible! ❤ ________________________________________________________ For anyone interested in a ‘One on One’ photography workshop, check out our website for full details. 🙂 Be sure to follow us on Snapchat for some 'behind the scenes' clips ➡️ dkphotographers _________________________________________________________ Dale & Karlie DK PHOTOGRAPHY www.dk-photography.com.au www.facebook.com/DK.Photography.com.au
Dettifoss, Iceland… _________________________________ We've had some pretty bad luck on this trip so far with a couple of things but thankfully we have been getting some amazing light. Right now as we are posting this image the Northern Lights are lighting up the sky. For now though, we are off to the North Eastern corner of Iceland in hope of more clear skies over a spot that has taken us a long time to find. So fingers crossed & wish us luck! The Highlands, Iceland... _________________________________________________________ Somewhere in the highlands of Iceland we made our dream a shot a reality! When thinking of interesting foreground subjects, to accompany the already amazing spectacle that is the Northern Lights, we envisioned this shot of Icelandic Horses perched on a hill top with the Aurora firing obliviously above their heads. So we went to work. Looking for almost a full day in search of a paddock & horses that may suit the scene & face the right way, as it was forecast to have clear skies here after sunset & a kp4 (Aurora forecast) & late in the arvo we got lucky. A local & extremely kind farmer called Ólafur offered to help us out with using his farm & shortly after last light...this happened! We needed some treats to keep the horses in frame but are so stoked to how it turned out & still can't believe how lucky we were to capture this. A HUGE thank you to Ólafur for making it happen 😁🙏🏼 ________________________________________________________ Captured on the @nikonaustralia. Utakleiv Beach, Norway… ______________________________________ Where better to see the northern lights then in the Arctic Circle in winter… We’ve just arrived in Lofoten a few nights ago & we hit the ground running! The forecast was for a partly cloudy evening, but after sunset the sky was perfectly clear (and a very cold minus 10 might we add lol). We hoped mother nature’s electrical phenomenon would make an appearance, so we got to work scouting a few potential locations, and then the show began. We thought it was all over & headed to this location around the Fjord on our return home & all of a sudden…a jaw dropping display of purple & greenish streamers of light filled the sky above our heads! What a way to start our 14 day trip here with even more clear nights ahead, so stay tuned. As always, we’d love to know what you guys think & tag a friend who might like this too! :D Dale & Karlie ______________________________________ For those interested in how we took this, it is a single image captured on the @nikonaustralia D810 + 14-24mm Lens. Camera settings were: 13” | f/2.8 | ISO4000. ______________________________________ For anyone interested in a ‘One on One’ photography workshop, or prices on any @nisifiltersaustralia, feel free to send us a message! 🙂
