World Press Photo 2014: i vincitori

La giuria del World Press Photo of the Year 2014 ha comunicato i vincitori di questa edizione, a partire da John Stanmeyer con il suo 'segnale di speranza'.

Arrivano da Amsterdam i nomi dei vincitori del più prestigioso premio di fotogiornalismo internazionale, e la foto dell’anno 2013 attribuita dell’americano John Stanmeyer.

È la notte migrante degli africani a caccia di un segnale dalla Somalia, e di un tenue legame con i parenti restati in Somalia, Etiopia ed Eritrea, fotografata da John Stanmeyer sulla riva della città di Gibuti, punto di transito verso la ricerca di una vita migliore in Europa e nel Medio Oriente, a vincere il World Press Photo of the Year 2014 (ergo del 2013). “È una foto collegata a tante altre storie – apre la discussione sui temi della tecnologia, della globalizzazione, dell’emigrazione, della povertà, della disperazione, dell’alienazione e dell’umanità. Si tratta un'immagine molto sofisticata, potentemente sfumata. È così sottilmente realizzata e in modo così poetico, sebbene sia piena di significato, da trasmettere questioni di grande gravità e preoccupazione nel mondo di oggi.”

Un barlume di speranza, accesa da un segnale, dalla ricerca che spinge l'essere umano più disperato a non arrendersi, ad andare aventi in periodi bui come quello che sta vivendo il mondo intero, e accompagnano i migranti dalla notte dei tempi. Una fotografia scattata con una Canon EOS 5D Mark III e obiettivo EF 35mm f/1.4L USM, ad un’apertura di f/1.4 con un’esposizione di 1/40 al secondo a 10.000 ISO.

Sono invece tre i fotografi italiani vincitori di questa edizione. Bruno D’Amicis vincitore del 1° premio nella categoria Natura, con lo scatto della volpe Fennec, una specie in pericolo, tenuta illegalmente in un recinto di pecore per circa un anno in Tunisia. Gianluca Panella con una sguardo a Gaza Blackout vincitore del del 3° premio storie nella categoria General News. Alessandro Penso di OnOff Picture, vincitore del 1° premio nella categoria General News, con gli alloggi temporanei dei rifugiati siriani (foto a seguire).

L’atteso appuntamento con la mostra dei vincitori del World Press Photo 2014, che potete sbirciare in questa gallery, sarà ospitato al Museo di Roma in Trastevere, dal 30 aprile al 25 maggio 2014, mentre a Contrasto spetta l'onere e l'onore di raccogliere tutto in un libro.
